Mrs. Simpson’s Second Grade Scientists Put the Properties of Matter to the Test
Science in Action at PCA!Mrs. Beverly Simpson’s 2nd grade students are currently studying Properties of Matter, and this hands-on lab gave them the opportunity to observe and compare what happens when salt placed on paper is exposed to “rain” versus salt placed inside a plastic container with a lid.
Students were able to see firsthand how different materials respond in different conditions. This lab also leads directly into their upcoming lessons as they continue learning about the properties of matter and explore which types of containers are best suited to perform certain jobs.
