A Classical Minute: Music at the Heart of a Classical Education

A Classical Minute:

At a classical school, music is not like icing on a cake: music is an important ingredient in the cake itself.

Plato wrote that “musical training is a more potent instrument than any other, because rhythm and harmony find their way into the inward places of the soul.” Music is one of the seven original liberal arts, along with grammar, logic, rhetoric, arithmetic, geometry, and astronomy.

At “Space Sounds: A Concert of Space-Themed Music,” Pinnacle Classical Academy's Bands and Chorus performed twelve works, culminating in selections by Gustav Holst and Antonín Dvořák. Gratitude to our middle and high school music teacher, Ms. Tara Owens -- and to the student performers who are carrying on the legacy of music in the next generation.
