Pinnacle Classical Academy 4th Graders Experience Government in Action
Our 4th grade students recently experienced history and the legislative process firsthand during an exciting field trip to Raleigh. Students began their day with a guided tour of the North Carolina Legislative Building, where they explored both the House of Representatives and Senate chambers. Along the way, they learned how laws are proposed, discussed, and voted on, gaining a deeper understanding of the legislative process in action.
The trip also included a visit to the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences, where students explored exhibits at their own pace with parents and chaperones. This interactive experience allowed them to engage with science concepts in a fun and meaningful way.
Students also toured the historic North Carolina State Capitol, where they learned about its history and significance. A highlight for many was seeing the paintings and sculptures in the rotunda and gaining insight into how legislators work—writing notes, collaborating, and using their spaces to help create laws.
This memorable trip provided students with a meaningful opportunity to connect classroom learning to the real world while deepening their understanding of North Carolina’s government, history, and natural sciences.
